This morning I left the house at around 10.45. Gloria was due to come and clean and I prefer to be out of the house when she’s here. That way I don’t get in her way.
I popped down to Clapham High Street and spent a couple hours in Cafe Nero catching up on some work. Tonight I’m going the ICA with Doug and Gary for gay bingo with Johnny Woo. Can’t wait.
I’m not going to posting to this blog for a while and focussing my attention on my daily photo blog:
London Daily Photo
So I’m living in Lewisham. It’s still going to be a few months before my flat purchase goes through and I noticed that my friends Katie and Jim were looking for tenants for their flat in Lewisham. So I’m here. We agreed a short term arrangement, which is great.
Although Fulham was fine, I’m glad to have my privacy and it’s a really nice flat.
So I’m in the market for a new boyfriend / romantic distraction. I think I need some rules.
Rule Number One:
Don’t date people who take fold-up bicycles to the pub.
Well, I used to love this service (basically a re-branded) LoveFilm. I have recently rejoined after cancelling it before I went away. When did they stop using First Class post and switch to Second? It’s a significant change for a service that is really all about the speed of delivery etc.

Last week was London Pride and I just realised I never posted about it. It was great fun. I met Chris and Julio and Fiona on Oxford Street at 1 to watch the parade. It was cool, a good mix of formal and fun. I saw Boy George, Rhonagh Cameron, Peter Tatchell and Brian Paddick. Then we followed the march down to Trafalgar Square where we met up with Doug, Gary, Gideon and Mark. It was a glorious hot day. Trafalgar Square was packed and HOT!
Then we headed up to Leicester Square to the drag queen stage. By this time we were hungry so we popped to Wagamama for a quick bite. I think this is becoming a bit of a pride tradition, as we did it last year.
The rest of the evening was spent standing in Old Compton Street (Soho was absolutely packed) chatting to folk. I bumped in Brett, which was very nice. I was home at about 12.00 I think. So a long, gorgeous day.
Another week has passed. I think I have found a new flat to buy. Well, I’ve found two! I have offer accepted on one in Oval (very near where I uesed to live). In fact it was a flat that I put an offer in on a while back but it was rejected in favour of a different offer. Then they came back to me and said my offer had been accepted. However, in the meantime I had found a different place and put in an offer on that. The second place is better and to be honest I don’t think they’ll accept the offer as it was a low ball cheeky move.
Hopefully I’ll find out tomorrow. It Sunday today and not much is happening.
Friday night, I went out with Chris and Julio. We went to The Friendly Society, which was a delight as always. After that we went to The Green Carnation. Great fun indeed.
I’m busy looking for a new flat to buy. It’s a thankless task and not that much fun. It’s always the same, feelings of, if only I had more money, creep. Although I suspect I’d probably be thinking that no matter how much I had. Thankfully First Direct have agreed to give me a mortgage even though I am still officially on the Offley mortgage. I shouldn’t be for long but at least now I can get the ball rolling.
I have seen 5 places, two of them seem suitable, but I’m struggling to make the final decision. There is one more I’m hoping to see (hopefully) later and I’d hoping to revisit one of the ones I saw last week.
As usual, this is an issues of location v size v quality. And although I told myself before I started that I would be clear about my priorities I’m finding things confused. It’s never a case of comparing apples. Anyway, I feel like I’m getting closer to that is good. I’m just hopelessly impatient. Can’t imagine what I will be like when the process is underway!
Richy hosted his annual Half Way to Christmas Party last night which was a jolly affair indeed. Didn’t drink too much and was home by 12.30… so a perfect gentle evening.
He did a great job of preparing everything and making his flat feel very festive. We all got gifts that he has kindly bought for us at Poundland, we pulled crackers, ate Christmassy food (turkey, ham, sausages etc) and one of the couples there had a tiny domestic. THEN it really felt like Christmas!

On Friday the new iPhone SGs was released. Luckily I have been considering getting a new phone since I got back from Argentina and so the timing was good. During my lunch break I went to the O2 store in Westfield. There was a very long queue. But thankfully it moved quite quickly and I waited for about 30 mins. There were people handing out muffins and bottles of water to the folk waiting, which I thought a nice touch.
I was reluctant to switch networks. I’m so loyal to Orange although lately their customer service standards have declined and their automated phone system really annoying, mainly because the woman sounds so damn smug. So, now I’m on 02 and LOVING my new toy. I went for the 32GB one (probably unnecessary) but at least I can fill it up with lots of crap before I need to “manage” my content.
The compass is cool, it’s weird how often I’d like to know what direction I’m pointing and of course that combined with the GPS and the Googlemaps is very useful, particularly in London.
